Discrete & Computational Geometry
Instructions for Autliors
General Information
Manuscripts for this journal should be typed on only one side of the sheet of paper, double spaced, with Ig-inch margins all around All elements of formulae, also, should be typewritten whenever possible
The journal strongly encourages authors to mit electronically prepared manuscripts in TeX Follow the instructions set forth here exactly, if, for example, the reference section is incorrectly styled, the value of the diskette submission will be reduced A double-spaced hard copy of the script must accompany the software
Each figure (line drawings and graphs) should be submitted on a separate sheet of paper, each diagram should be drawn precisely m India ink, using lines of uniform width The figures should be drawn at twice the size desired the maximum area for the reduced figures is 4| x 7| m , or 122 x 194 mm All diagrams should be numbered consecutively, and their first mention m the text should be noted m the left-hand margin Legends should be listed consecutively on a single sheet of paper
An abstract of the article should be included on the title page An abbreviated version (80 ters or less) of the article title should be provided for use as a running head
Footnotes other than those referring to the title should be avoided If they are essential, they should be numbered consecutively and placed at the foot of the page to which they refer
References to the literature should be listed alphabetically at the end of the manuscript, in the following form
1 L Billera and С W Lee, A proof of the sufficiency of McMulfen's conditions for f-vectors of simplicial convex polytopes, J Combm Theory Ser A 31 (1981), 237-255
2 P Erdo's, Some combinatorial problems m geometry, in Geometry and Differential Geometry (Proc Conf Univ Haifa 1979), 46-53, Lecture Notes in Mathematics, Vol 792, Springer-Verlag, Berlin, Heidelberg, New York, 1980
3 G P Huijari, An optimal algorithm for the coordinatization of oriented matroids, Discrete Comput Geom , m press
4 M I Shamos, Computational Geometry, Ph D thesis, Yale University, New Haven, CT, 1978
Marking the Manuscript
In text, words or phrases requiring italic type should be underlined Only the end of a proof should be indicated by D
All letters in formulae, as well as single letters m the text, are automatically printed italic and therefore require no underlining Please use the
following color code for marking
Greek letters red
Gothic letters blue
Script letters green
Regular (Roman) letters yellow
Special Roman letters wavy blue
Boldface brown
Italics underline m pencil Please use pencil for ail editorial marks asU compositor IS likely to interpret an ink mark as г element to be printed If its appearance ambiguous, underline a capital letter three time In complicated sections of the text ma superscripts and subscripts with a caret b^ b Ordinarily subscripts appear below superscript they should be typed this way, and marked variation is desired
The following elements are often confused ar should be identified by the appropriate previous discussed measures or by a circled word or wor( explaining the element
u , u, U, ,0, O, 0, X, X. X, K, y, V Ü, V
Ö , 0, Ф, (ß, Ф, 0, 0, ф, 4^, e, e,c,a, a'
c , C, e, /, /, J, k, K, 0. O, p, P, s, S,
u , U, V, V, w, W, X, X,z, Z The letter О and the numeral 0, and the letter and the numeral 1 occur frequently Each appea ance of one or zero should be identified If numeral 1 should be written with a hook ar baseline bar Distinguish between the indéfini article a and the italic letter a used m mathematical context

Manuscripts submitted according to these instru tions will reduce considerably the cost of charges the author in proofs The only corrections to t made in proofs are typographical errors Shou the author wish to correct stylistic or factual erroi in proofs, he must absorb the cost Proofs mustb checked and returned within forty-eight hours < receipt
Fifty free offprints will be forwarded Addition offprints can be purchased by filling out the oftpn order form which will be sent to the correspondifi author along with the proofs Offprints are norma shipped SIX to eight weeks after publication oft issue m which the item appears No page charg are imposed
Authors should submit manuscripts m tripuca to one of the Editors-in-Chief
